Cathey & Family September 29, 2009

This is the 3rd year we have had the opportunity to photograph Cathey and her kids & granddaughters.

The weather really was wonderful for our session! Everyone looked great and the whole session was fantastic!

Stacy’s little girls Katie & Morgan were so funny. Morgan, I think, really wants to be a little model she had us all cracking up!

I think it is great the whole family makes a point to have a big family portrait done. I wish I would of had this with my own grandmother! I think they will cherish it for years to come.

It is nice that I have gotten to see the girls grow up the last 3 years as well.

I hope you enjoy the preview of photos.  I will be in touch as soon as I get the rest edited!

Sisters Emily & Erica with their little men…

Filed under: arts garden, babies, cousins, family, hyatt, newborn, sisters — Jennifer Cooney @ 5:45 pm

I had a photo session scheduled with Emily and it was a rainy day. One of those all-day rains.

Our policy is to reschedule if rain because we do all ‘on location’ photography. We prefer that, as we don’t care for ‘typical’ studio photography. We would love to someday have a really cool, natural light studio with some nice exposed brick, in some sort of cool warehouse location or something.  So if anyone knows of a cheap place like this…let us know  :-)

However this was a gift for their mom that lives in Florida and Erica was in town from Florida visiting her sisters new baby. So we met at the Indianapolis Arts Garden downtown and then went to the Hyatt hotel next door to do some photos in the lobby.

The babies, Anderson ( 4 months ) & Noah (newborn), were adorable for the session. I love the ones of them together in the basket.

Thanks guys for being so flexible! See you soon Emily, for Noah’s next session!

Jacyln & Paige Steal the Show September 23, 2009

We were in West Virginia and had the opportunity to photograph family friends of Tommy’s, Rick & Crystal. What a sweet couple they are. Such a great little family unit they have!

They live out in the country and have a beautiful home and lots of land. I photographed Jacyln first and her name seems so suiting. She is into fashion and was a total diva for the camera. She was talkative and had a good time with us. She also contributed many ideas for our shots : )

Paige is this precious 3 year old that still has that precious toddler personality of curiosity and excitement. But she will still let you hold her and I took advantage of that : ) She was so nice to us and great for her photographs.

Rick is a collector of cars, particularly Corvettes. We took some photos of them in his garages. But we did some family photographs with this cool old red truck.

Rick & Crystal it was so nice meeting you and your lovely daughters. You have a beautiful, warm family.

I hope you enjoy the sneak preview!

Juniper Ann

My dear friend Esther is like the sister I never had. She and Brandon were blessed with her 2nd beautiful daughter on September 3rd. Unfortunately due to the nature of our business and it being wedding season we did not make it out to see Juniper until she was almost 2 weeks old. But I am so happy we got out there before she was too much bigger.

Juniper no doubt looks like her big sister through and through. It was like a total flashback to seeing Elise for the first time.

When we arrived there was no question about what kind of big sister Elise was going to be. She did not stop to catch her breath as soon as we arrived she wanted to point out how sweet the baby is and how cute her nose is and her ears. Then show me all the pictures she made for the baby. Then show me her bassinet. Elise is going to be an amazing big sister so loving and thoughtful. This little girl has such a special place in my heart as well not only is she like my first niece…not blood but close enough…she is totally connected to Maya in this really cool way.

Juniper was so good for the photo session. She is a really calm, mild mannered baby. She slept on my chest forever it was really nice. If I were to guess the environment and loving family that brought her into this world contributed to her pleasant disposition.

I am so happy for you Esther & Brandon and Elise, of course :)

Thanks for letting Aunt Jenn take your photographs! I will get them all up soon.

Love,
Jennifer

P.S.

The last photograph is one Tommy took after our session of the girls snuggling with Jenn. I just thought it was sweet. Look at Elise’s eyelashes!

Lisa & Shawn Tie the Knot September 8, 2009

On what looked to be the start of an all day rain, we was feeling so bad for Lisa & Shawn. Their luck with rain hasn’t been great so far. We did their engagement photos up in Chicago last year and it rained all day for that too. So I think we were all feeling like ‘here we go again.’

But the unexpected happened this time. What looked like a rainy day, turned into an overcast day an dried up. It stopped raining about an hour or so before the ceremony was to begin. That worked out perfect as it enabled us to do some photos outside. And during the ceremony, the now overcast day turned into a beautiful sunny, blue-skied day. It was a great transformation.

They got married at the Indiana State House. I love shooting photos there for a ceremony. The available light is soft and amber and perfect for photography. And we had lots of good spots for fun ideas for photographs. From phone booths, to fun chairs, to statue nooks, to beautiful stairs. It was great!

Shawn and Lisa’s friend Albert got ordained just so he could marry them. So the ceremony was personal and meaningful with a lit bit of humor thrown in. He did an amazing job. Indeed, Master Reverend Albert was superb. But I am not sure what was better…his ‘marrying’ skills or his dancing skills at the reception later?  :-)

Shawn & Lisa have a core group of friends, the JLP (Justice League Productions) and these guys are all so close and have been able to remain great friends even though they are separated by many miles. If you were not sure you would realize after seeing them all together that this bond would never be broken. They have lots of inside jokes and were all dancing together then entire night.

I have seen big dancing groups before. But this might have been the biggest. I took more photographs of the dancing then we did for the 9 hours prior to the dancing!

Thank you Shawn & Lisa! You and your friends were a lot of fun to work with. I hope you enjoy Ireland.

Enjoy this sneak preview!

Splashing around a fountain…

Filed under: babies, children, family, fountain, villages of west clay — Jennifer Cooney @ 5:30 am

This will be short and sweet as I really wanted to get up a blog on this session before we leave bright and early.

Mike & Heather have a beautiful family and we always have fun photographing these kids. They really truly make us laugh and make it not even seem like work. Ella is the model and loves posing for photographs and Cameron is a total wild man and is super funny and spontaneous and Harper really is rolling with whatever is happening around her and is so happy!

It also I works out well that Tommy & Mike are big on the newest technology. I’m pretty sure they could talk about that stuff for hours. Tommy always loves seeing what newest gadgets and electronics Mike’s getting into.

We did photographs in their neighborhood up on the northside. And they let us end the session with the kids getting wet in the fountain. We LOVE when parents are so willing and carefree about that kind of stuff! It makes are jobs much more fun.  :-)

All of this the day after they got back from Disney!

Thanks Heather & Mike for putting up with our ideas and we hope you love the photographs! Enjoy this preview.

Kaelan MacKenzie September 4, 2009

And…The Happiest Baby Ever award goes to…Miss Kaelan. She was all laughs and giggles and full of smiles for our hour long session this morning.

They did a session as a surprise for her husband as an anniversary gift. We did some with Kaelan in an adorable pink dress with a cardigan and then some in her christening gown.

What a beautiful little one year old as well. With her curls and dimples. What a perfect day at the IMA!

Enjoy this preview Chase. Thanks again for letting us do your photographs!
