Towne @ the IMA August 31, 2009

We did Towne’s newborn photographs a little while back. I was inspired by the art in Towne’s home and we tried out a lot of new ideas. It was a really fun photo session.

It is cool to see the babies grow up..seeing the personalities forming and their unique individual personalities.

She was a really good baby for the session and Tommy got her laughing for the photographs!

While we were at the IMA we ran into a film crew that was doing a small independent project. Michelle, Brad, and Towne got to stroll through and be a part of the film.
If they make the movie and become famous hopefully they will remember us small people ;-)

We had so much fun at your session…you guys are fun to hang out with! Hope to see more of you.

Enjoy your sneak peak!

A-List Winners Announced… August 29, 2009

Filed under: contest — Tommy John Gaio @ 4:58 pm

Well Wednesday of this past week they announced the winners of the “Indy’s Best Photographer” category.

They only announce the top 5 and we were not lucky enough to be in that group. But as far as we can tell we made it to at least 11th place. Which is pretty exciting to us, as last year we got around 15th…not to mention the field is of around 200 photographers!

But next year…we are hoping for some concrete evidence by cracking the top 5! So thanks so much to everyone who commented and gave us a vote. You guys are the best.

Your support means so much to us. So much in fact that we are going to have a crazy deal going on now…so listen up…here it is:

Now through Labor Day (Monday, September 7th) book a session and it will be only $11 dollars. This session has to be for this calendar year (2009). These will be 30 minute sessions in predetermined locations. The IMA will definitely be one of the locations. You facebookers will have first dibs because we aren’t sending out an email to everyone (Our September newsletter) until Monday or Tuesday.

We are going out of town Sept 8-21st so let us know soon as Fall is so short and I can’t imagine we will be shooting much past Oct 20th or so…We even have some time tomorrow if anyone is interested!

So if you want a spontaneous photo session the weather is not going to be hot and it should be lovely at the IMA which is where we will be tomorrow. If you have recently had a session and really don’t feel like you have changed that much since the last one :-) Then you can get an 8×10 of your choice for only $11!

Email Jennifer or give her a call if you would like to book a session.

If you have questions about either deal let us know.

This is good for anyone and everyone! So share it with your friends I can’t imagine a deal like this coming around these parts again :-)

Caryn & John’s Wedding August 24, 2009

Caryn is one of the nicest people you could ever meet. I liked her from the first time we met. I must admit her husband John intimidated me a little the first time I met him…he had a lot of questions for me…which usually the groom’s are less involved in planning…so it definitely caught me by surprise. It’s actually pretty funny to me now because I think he is so fun, considerate, and a good friend to all of his family and friends. They both are. If you did not know from the amount of friends they had standing up with them at the wedding you knew from all the things their family and friends had to say about them.

Caryn’s father performed their ceremony and Tommy and I agreed it was one of the most touching and well done ceremony’s we have witnessed. It was really beautiful…I’ll be honest…he had me in tears. So I can’t imagine if I was a close friend of family!

Everyone that was with you on your wedding day was so wonderful to us. Your bridal party really let us do our thing and have fun with the photographs!

Their reception was at the State Museum which is a really beautiful venue for a reception. It was our first time photographing a reception there but I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a downtown location.

Thank you so much for choosing us for your photography!

Have fun in St. John! We look forward to hanging out when you get back : )

P.S. (Note from the editor – Tommy)

I just wanted to chime in and say that I had a blast as well. I certainly felt like I was a part of the bridal party group…that’s for sure. You guys are so much fun and so easy to work with. And you guys all let us do fun poses and a lot of stuff that a lot of people wouldn’t want to do.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention this one final thing however. Jennifer and I like to pride ourselves in our ability to ‘document’ the day. We are always snapping pictures left and right…looking for those special moments that you wouldn’t normally think of. So you an imagine, at the end of the day we end up with a lot of photos.

Well our style appeared to work again this weekend…I think we might have even come up with a new slogan:

“Baby Grace Photography, we capture every little moment…”

As you will see in the first few photos below, I was walking backwards taking some shots of the whole bridal party walking along this bridge. One of those ‘classic’ type shots, where everyone is supposed to be natural and just walking…not posed. When you are doing something like this, you tend to snap a lot of photos, because you never know which ‘frame’ will be the keeper…well i think we found our keeper…

(BTW, she was such a good sport about it and so great…and she wasn’t too badly injured…just a few flesh wounds…I actually ran to CVS right after it happened to get her some stuff to get bandaged up. She handled it all in stride. And she wasn’t being clumsy either…there was actually a grass covered pot hole in the road that she unwittingly stepped in.)

Adorable Harper at One! August 23, 2009

Filed under: children, family, geist park — Jennifer Cooney @ 9:14 pm

I met Jessica, Jeremy, and their daughter Harper at Geist Park. I am not sure why I never knew about this park. It was only like 5 miles from the house. But it was really clean, and had a lake where you could fish or kayak and some walking trails. Yesterday was the kind of weather I would love all year around.

Harper is such a good baby. She was so smiley and cooperative and friendly. I have never taken shots of little kids swinging because honestly I thought it would end up looking too much like a snap shot and not as much my style. Well…I ended up loving the shots of Harper in the swing!

I hope you guys enjoy your preview. You will have so many photographs to pick from : ) Just scanning through she was making so many precious faces in them.

Have a wonderful day!

New Advertisement for the Perfect Wedding Guide… August 20, 2009

Filed under: advertisement, pwg, wedding — Tommy John Gaio @ 11:44 pm

Well, it is time for us to submit a new ad for the Perfect Wedding Guide (PWG)

Last year we used an image from one of our good friends weddings…Kevin & Katie…we loved how it turned out! (Last year’s is the top one on the list)

Now we have made things very hard on ourselves by making a bunch of examples…but here is this year’s crop…help us narrow it down!

Thanks,

Tommy

Kaycee, Jeremy, & Ethan in Urban Indiana… August 18, 2009

Kaycee emailed saying she wanted to do 1 year photographs of Ethan. She was thinking something that would be around Railroad tracks. I could not think of a spot near downtown with tracks and thought maybe Fountain Square could be cool. We had only done photographs there once before but loved how they came out. So they met us at the Shelby Street diner and we did some photographs around there. And then we walked around Fountain Square.

Later, we drove to a ‘not so nice’ of town and parked near some tracks and got some amazing photographs.

Thanks guys for being open to something that might not look good from first glance. I loved getting to do something new and try this out. And I loved the results. I hope you guy enjoy the preview!
