Brody Matthew April 20, 2009

Filed under: newborn — Jennifer Cooney @ 6:13 am

We went to photograph little baby Brody yesterday. He was still just a little guy weighing less then 7 lbs at 3 weeks. So cute.

Newborns are most comfortable in their parents arms, in their clothing and in their routine. So strip them of clothes take them from their parents and try to take some photographs it doesn’t always work out. He was not super excited about this photo session when we started…

But then he calmed down and got into the modeling …or we simply wore him out. And we got to take some really sweet photographs. I was excited when Tommy thought to open up the front door. We put the basket right inside the house with the door open the light was really nice. Then I stuck him at the front door and I think those are really cool shots.

I love shooting new kinds of photographs and ideas!

I hope you enjoy your Brody sneak peak!

Top Model in the Making… April 15, 2009

We went yesterday for a newborn session for a precious baby named Maximilian. He was adorable but I must admit big Sister Reese stole the show. She is 2 1/2 and reminded me a bit of Maya. She was excited and friendly and totally up for any kind of photograph I wanted to take.

Then she did something funny that really reminded me of Maya. She posed her dad like I had just posed her and took her camera and started shooting.

I think big sisters are suppose to get all the attention and this little lady is no exception. Her baby brother is going to have a lot of fun growing up in this fun family and with sweet sister Reese.

The whole family was happy and warm and the love was so obvious in person and translated through the photographs.

Tommy and I had a lot of fun doing their photographs!

Thank you Marianne, Ross, Reese &Max for having us come do your families photographs!

Enjoy the sneak peak!

Happy Belated Easter!

I look at holidays much different now then I use too.

When Maya was born so were holidays. To see them through a child’s eyes is amazing and beautiful. Nothing is more important.

Then when you lose someone that is the most important person to you those holidays seems especially cruel.

I am writing this blog here for all of you to see because I know many of my clients and friends have had tragic loss of their own. And I know for many of us just how impossible life seems afterwards.

However I now make new memories and I find joy in different things. They will never be the same or even as enjoyable, at least that is how it seems at this point.

But I remember Maya and her exuberance for all the tiny details. Her energy, smile, voice and the smell of her hair, the way it would curl up in the humidity and always get matted in the back during car rides.

So what does any of this have to do with Baby Grace or photography. Well kind of everything. Do you know my most valuable possessions in my life are the photographs I own. Without those coping would be so different. I am surrounded by photographs of her through every phase of her life. I feel blessed to have a few of her with my grandma’s and all of our friends. Here are a couple of photographs of Maya with her best friend Aria on Easter looking for Easter eggs.

When Maya was alive I had to work every single Easter, regrettably. I wish I could take that back now. I remember running to Target at 11pm the night before Easter getting her basket together. Spending time with her before and after work on Sunday.

So take time out for your family & friends. If you can not work as much you wont regret it later in life. Take lots of snap shots. Get good family photographs. Record their little voices.

And remember just how special today is. I try to treat all my days like they are gifts.

Thanks for reading!

Much Love

Emerson Anne April 14, 2009

I met Erin, Josh & Emerson for the first time a few months ago when I did Emerson’s photographs at a couple of months old. She was a great baby then and was amazing this time around as well.
She is 6 months old and she was completely cooperative for over an hour for the session.
Emerson has discovered her tongue, her voice, and her little toes. This age is really fun to photograph because the babies are so expressive at this stage and they are discovering so many new things.

Emerson was no different.

I was so excited to see the images that I was working on them at midnight last night.

Here is a sneak peak at the session!

Thanks Erin and Josh for letting us come do your photographs again it was a lot of fun!
